Objective

Identify and communicate the unique advantages (or "lучшесть") of your product in comparison to competitors. This will clarify your positioning and showcase why your product is the superior choice for a specific target audience and use case.

Steps to Complete the Task

1. Identify Competitors

  1. List 5 similar products (direct and indirect competitors).
    • Direct Competitors: Products targeting the same problem and audience.
    • Indirect Competitors: Alternatives that fulfill the same need differently.

Example Competitors:

  • Product A: Established industry tool with wide adoption.
  • Product B: Low-cost alternative with limited functionality.
  • Product C: High-end solution with premium pricing.
  • Product D: Manual workflows or legacy systems.
  • Product E: DIY tools or generic software adapted for the purpose.

2. Categorize Features and Parameters

  1. Category "What" – Key Functions:

    • List the primary features or functionalities your product offers.

    Example Features:

    • Automated task tracking.
    • Real-time collaboration.
    • Easy-to-use dashboard.
  2. Category "How" – Comparison Parameters:

    • Identify criteria your audience uses to evaluate alternatives.

    Example Parameters:

    • Price, speed, design, ease of use, support, scalability.
  3. Category "Why" – Motivations:

    • Highlight emotional or symbolic benefits that resonate with users.

    Example Motivations:

    • Professionalism, efficiency, reliability, status.

3. Create a 10-Point Rating Scale

  1. Evaluate each competitor and your product across key parameters.
    • Assign scores from 1 (poor) to 10 (excellent) for each parameter.

Example Table:

ParameterYour ProductProduct AProduct BProduct CProduct D
Price861047
Speed97683
Ease of Use108564
Scalability783102
Support97493

4. Visualize the Results

  1. Create a radar (spider) chart or bar graph to visualize the scores.
    • Highlight parameters where your product significantly outperforms competitors.

5. Define Your Product's Competitive Edge

Use the insights to craft a positioning statement:

  • Template: "Project [name] is better than [main competitor] in the eyes of [target audience] for [key function] by [parameter 1, parameter 2, etc.] by 2-3 times, thanks to [unique advantage]."

Example Statement: "Project [Your Product] is better than Product A in the eyes of small business owners for real-time collaboration by ease of use, speed, and support by 2-3 times, thanks to its intuitive design and responsive customer service."
